Many people go for the fishing profession in WoW, not because it is the most exciting profession in the world, but because it is a highly rewarding profession. Though fishing can get tedious at times, the following are some of the benefits that you can get from this profession:

• You are never without food if you know how to fish. Yes, this age-old truth applies to WoW also.
• While you are fishing, it is not just fish that you might catch. You can get a lot of other things, some that you could sell for a lot of gold. Some of the things that your fishing escapades can give you include lockboxes and several uncommon items. You can also find armor and some potions inside the sea.
• If you also know cooking, you have it made. You can then cook the fish you have caught. Selling cooked fish gives you a better monetary return than merely selling fish.
• Also, there are many quests that will be opened up to you only if you are trained in fishing as a profession.

How to Begin with the Fishing Profession

To begin with fishing, you will first need to get trained in it. Fishing trainers are not as abundantly found as trainers for some of the other professions, so it is advisable to seek training from anyone that you come across. You will find more fishing trainers in Azeroth than you will in Northrend. Keep that in mind.

To actually start your fishing profession, you will need some equipment. The fishing pole is the most important thing that you will need. You can get these at any equipment store in the world. It is good to buy a pole that has some skill bonus assigned to it. This adds to your own bonus and you have a better fishing experience. For example, if you buy a fishing pole that has a bonus of 20 and your own skill level is 75, then the overall level becomes 95. Also, bear in mind that you can also use your fishing pole as a weapon in a dire circumstance.

You might also want to buy some baubles when you are buying the fishing rod. This can make your task easier in the early stages of fishing.

Some Fishing Tips

If you are looking for a place to fish, you just have to move to the starting area of the faction. There is a place where you can fish in each of these starting areas. In some of these areas there are also quests that you can accomplish. You could improve your fishing level quite early on in the game through this.

Learning helps. There are various ways in which you can learn to be a better fisherperson in WoW. Buying books is one option. Examples are Master Fishing—The Art of Angling and Expert Fishing—The Bass and You. You could buy these books easily if your level is high, or the Auction House is a place where you can get them.

Take cooking up as another secondary profession if you have taken fishing. It really helps!
